Graphics Rotation - Day 1

To begin the day we were set the task to draw someone's face on our table but each time with a different handicap.

The first handicap was drawing the persons face whilst having my eyes closed. For this i decided to not lift the pencil from the paper so I didn't lose where I was on the paper. This was done in 2 minutes:

I found this difficult but I feel the results were not bad for having my eyes closed, as all the lines are joined I feel that it has a kind of Picasso look to it.

Here I had to draw with the pencil in my mouth:

This I found extremely difficult and the results show it as the drawing is barely visible. This was due to me not being able to push the pencil down had enough with my mouth to create a dark line on the paper.

And I had to draw with my left hand:

This one I found very difficult also become my left hand is definitely my much less dominant hand making it almost useless at drawing or doing anything technical with, therefore this drawing came out rather scruffy to say the least.

And lastly I had to draw a quick self portrait in 2 minutes

Using my camera phone as a mirror I was easily able to see myself and draw my main features however the time constraint limited me from adding detail and shading into the drawing.

We were then set the task to draw an ear as best as we could in a certain given amount of time, on an A1 piece of paper. This brought up challenges as an ear is quite a small and intricate object that has a lot of shadows and contours to keep in mind. Therefore I found it quite difficult, however i was pleased with my final drawing. We then laid them all out and presented to the class.

After lunch we were then set the task of creating a collage of different faces including our own face that we brought in. I chose a selection of people from the class and took a quarter or less from a picture of their face and stuck it into my collage to create this single face. I then went through many magazines and found words that related to me and my style and cut them out and stuck them onto my collage.

Here is my final piece. I was pleased with it as his an abstract feel yet retains the look of a fully formed face of a person.
